Mashable Meetup: BAM Gets a Face in the Sea of Social Media

At 7pm last Thursday, people finally could put the faces of our employees with our company name.  With a good turnout for our first Mashable event, we at BAM feel that we achieved our goal of bringing people in the social media community together. We had no idea how much visibility and recognition this casual event gave us.

The Mashable Meetup is no ordinary mixer. With the reputability of the Mashable name, a friendly atmosphere and good turnout, this event illustrated multiple uses of a meetup. First, we found that it served as a great networking tool to connect with old friends and make new ones. Of course, this was expected, but not to the level it actually occurred.

Second, the Meetup can be a great place to find a future employee or job. It's like an interview, with beer. Third, and most important, we were able to gauge the relevancy of some of our services and products by the opinions of attendees that were not even in the interactive media industry. It was a great market research tool.

Overall, this event showed us that people in every industry are finally recognizing the need for online marketing and social media. With their input, we are in an active process of understanding more about the effectiveness of certain campaigns, and how to better craft strategies for our clients.

On another note, we got to socialize with each other. At BAM, we work hard. We don't always have time to get to know one another on a personal level. This event has taught us that team building is not just important to grow as a company, but for the social media community as well.

We are most definitely going to be mashing it up in the near future.

Check back to find out when our next event is coming up!
